Daisy records show that on December 8, 1952, No. 111, Model 40 Red Ryders made on Decemwere stamped with register numbers starting with 000001 and ending with 002405. The machines used to stamp the small frames did not.ĭaisy production records show that the No. History does not tell us the reason for starting the large frame gun sequence with the letter K, but we do note that the number of the pierce and stamp machine used to stamp the large frame guns contained the letter K. 25 and 142 and these were stamped with the K prefix. The first registered large frame guns included the Nos. The large frame guns were made in two parts - a receiver and a barrel - and welded together, like the No. The barrels and receivers of these guns were stamped and formed from a single piece of sheet metal. These first registered small frame guns included the Nos. In this same memo Shafer specified that, “Prior to assembling registered guns, all non-registered barrels and jackets must be used, including those to be reblued, brushed, etc.” The first number to be stamped on the No. The first number to be stamped on the small frame barrels was to be 000001. In the memo, Shafer specified that register stamping would begin on Decem(guns were then being produced in Plymouth, Michigan). The numbering of Daisy BB guns began with a memo dated November 28, 1952, from Daisy’s Robert Shafer. These BB guns retail for prices ranging from $11 to $21 apiece. Since the discovery of the possible malfunction, a design change has been completed and the malfunction corrected.ĭealers across the country have been notified to return their inventories of model 105A, 1938A, and 111A rifles. No injuries or complaints have been reported. No problem has been discovered with new guns or with guns fired less than 1,000 times. Routine inspection by Daisy employees revealed that this safety malfunction may develop after several thousand normal shots have been fired.
The BB guns being recalled can be identified by consumers through the model numbers which appear on the top of the gun barrel. The BB guns involved, model numbers 105A, 1938A and 111A, were manufactured between November 30 and December 21, 1978. The BB guns under recall can be fired despite the fact that the safety mechanism is engaged, if the trigger is pulled and pressure is simultaneously placed on the right side of the trigger.
